Sensory Profile

  • Intensity: 4/5 (vibrant, fresh, and highly aromatic)

  • Bitterness: 1/5 (minimal). It features a characteristic, noble, and pleasant astringency on the finish, typical of the first harvest, which perfectly cleanses the palate.

  • Dominant Notes: floral, fruity, and sweet

  • Caffeine: High

When to enjoy it

Superb in the morning for a gourmet breakfast or mid-morning to regain peak concentration. It should strictly be enjoyed pure, without milk or sugar, to avoid masking its incredible aromatic nuances.

Harvest Notes

  • Origin: Eastern slopes of the Himalayas, India

  • Harvest: First Flush (first spring harvest)

  • Leaf Grade: FTGFOP1 — Indicates the highest quality selection, consisting only of the very first golden buds and the most tender intact leaves.

Ingredients

100% Darjeeling black tea. Certified 100% organic.

Is this tea for you?

Yes, if...

  • You are looking for one of the most famous, rare, and prestigious teas in the world, ideal for true connoisseurs or as a high-end gift.

  • You want a spring tea that is intensely aromatic, fresh, and provides a clean energy boost to start the day.

  • You love complex scents reminiscent of fine white wines or high-altitude floral notes.

Skip it if...

  • You prefer wintry black teas that are very dark, malty, sweet, or spicy (such as Assam).

  • You are looking for a drink to enjoy late at night before bed.

  • You want a tea to take with milk (the First Flush has a structure too delicate and floral to withstand the fats in milk).

The Infusion

Follow these steps to get the best from your infusion:

  • Quantity: 2,5 g of tea (1 scoop with our perfect cup tea spoon) for a 200 ml cup

  • Water Temp: 100°C

  • Infusion time: 2–4 minutes

Our Tip

This is an elite high-altitude harvest that must be enjoyed pure: avoid adding milk or lemon, which would instantly erase its refined notes. To fully appreciate its complexity, use white porcelain or glass cups to admire the bright golden color of the brew. If you notice slightly green hues in the wet leaves after steeping, it is perfectly normal: it is the hallmark of the extraordinary freshness of the First Flush!

Darjeeling First Flush is a delicate and elegant tea, and for this reason it shines best when paired with light, refined flavours that mirror its floral and airy character.

Sweet pairings

The brightness of this tea harmonises beautifully with pastries that are soft and subtle in sweetness:

• vanilla shortbread or butter biscuits

• lemon drizzle cake or lemon madeleines

• soft sponge cakes with a light cream

These pairings highlight the tea’s spring-like notes and allow its floral nuances to remain the protagonist of the tasting.

Savoury pairings

For a savoury contrast, choose mild and fresh flavours that do not overshadow the cup:

• cucumber tea sandwiches with soft herbs • mild goat cheese on a thin crostino

• fresh ricotta with a drop of olive oil

The gentle savouriness lifts the aromatic profile of the tea without compromising its elegance.

Packaging & Servings

Each box contains 100 g of tea, providing approximately 35-40 servings.

Tea can be stored for up to two years in an airtight, opaque container. For best results, keep it in a cool, dry place, away from light, moisture, and strong odours to maintain its fullness of flavor.

FAQs

Does this tea contain caffeine?

Yes, Darjeeling First Flush naturally contains caffeine. As a spring-harvested black tea, it offers a gentle and uplifting energy — lighter than most black teas — making it ideal for a refined morning cup or a graceful afternoon pick-me-up.

What is First Flush tea?

“First Flush” refers to the very first harvest of the year, picked after the winter rest period. The young leaves contain the highest concentration of fresh sap and aromatic compounds, resulting in a lighter, more elegant cup compared to later harvests. These teas are prized for their purity and rarity.

What makes Darjeeling First Flush special?

Darjeeling First Flush is harvested at the beginning of spring, when the first tender leaves awaken after winter dormancy. This early picking captures the brightest and most delicate aromas of the season — floral, airy, and naturally sweet — which is why it is often called the “Champagne of Tea.”
